STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Location: Sacramento, CA
Pay Rate: $35-$40 per hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 100% On-Site

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our team in the Sacramento, CA area on a temporary basis for 4-6 months. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and is looking for a long-term opportunity. This position is fully on-site and may become a temp to hire opportunity depending on various factors, so someone who is open to that possibility is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review, code, and process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Reconcile bank statements and other balance sheet accounts
• Prepare journal entries and support financial reporting activities
• Assist with payroll accounting and related reconciliations, as needed
• Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls
• Analyze variances and assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation
• Sales Tax and Federal Excise Tax duties
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related accounting-focused major (required)
• 3-5+ years of experience in a staff accountant or general accounting role preferred
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statements
• Experience with accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable and able to work 100% on-site in the Sacramento, CA area
• Tax experience, particularly with California Sales Tax and Federal Excise Tax, is a strong plus and will put candidates at the top of the pile

Compensation & Benefits
